Amazon FBA fees typically take 30 to 35 percent of a standard-size product's selling price. The stack: a referral fee of 15 percent in most categories with a $0.30 minimum, a 2026 fulfillment fee of $3.22 to $6.92 by size and weight, a 3.5 percent fuel and logistics surcharge on every fulfilled unit since April 17, 2026, monthly storage of $0.87 per cubic foot ($2.40 in Q4), and $39.99 per month for a Professional seller account.

How the math worked
Estimates only, not business or tax advice. Amazon fee schedules change; verify the current schedule in Seller Central before sourcing a product. Storage estimates are rough; actual storage depends on your product's cubic footage and Q4 multipliers.
How Amazon FBA fees eat your margin
Three fees decide whether an Amazon product makes money: the referral fee, the fulfillment fee, and storage. The referral fee is a percentage of your selling price, usually 15%, and it applies to every sale whether you use FBA or ship it yourself. The fulfillment fee pays for Amazon's pick, pack, ship, and customer service, and it is set by your product's size tier and weight. Storage is billed per cubic foot per month and spikes in Q4, which punishes slow-moving inventory exactly when fees are highest.
The silent killers sit on top of the three headline fees. The 3.5% fuel and logistics surcharge has applied to every fulfilled unit since April 2026. Holiday peak fees add roughly $0.32 per unit from October 15, 2026 to January 14, 2027. Aged inventory surcharges hit anything stored past 181 days. And advertising is separate from all of this: most sellers spend 5 to 15% of revenue on PPC, which the calculator treats as its own line item.
The rule of thumb that keeps sellers out of trouble: Amazon fees take 30 to 35% of the selling price on a standard-size product. That means a product that costs you $8 landed needs to sell for at least $24 to $32 (the 3x to 4x rule) before you see a healthy net margin.
